SUPER LIVE CONCERT SERIES

In late 1976 CBM, almost reaching the end of his activity as a bootlegger, released two series of repressings of some of his records, often combining one side of a record with one side of another record. One of the series was named SUPER STUDIO SERIES,  the  other was named SUPER LIVE CONCERT SERIES. The latter included 6 or 7 volumes (there is no indication to volume 2). Four records had a custom slipsheet with title, track listing and the Godzilla logo, all had in addition a generic slipsheet with a shot from the Shea Stadium 1965 concert and the indication SUPER LIVE CONCERT SERIES.

The records were realized at the plant that produced good quality vinyls, with inner pressing ring at 7 mm from the spindle hole, and the labels were big Godzilla on red background, light blue Shalom and yellow/orange Instant Analysis.

These are the volumes of the SUPER LIVE CONCERT SERIES.

LIVE HOLLAND — SWEDEN
SUPER LIVE CONCERT SERIES 1

Matrix Numbers: WEC 3795-A / WEC S-4449-R 8430

COMMENTS AND RELEASES

This record has on Side A a repressing of Side A of SWEDEN 1963 while Side B is from a new master with the Dutch recording, from the same tape that was used for Side B of the Wizardo's record JOHN PAUL GEORGE AND JIMMY but in quite lower quality.

The only known release has an insert with the Godzilla logo, title and track listing, printed on light yellow paper and the back cover has the Shea Stadium photo in full size. The disc has the "Shalom" light blue labels .

SUPER LIVE CONCERT SERIES 2

There are no records with the indication of SUPER LIVE CONCERT SERIES 2. Information dating back to the time suggested that CBM used left-over copies of BUDO KAN HALL as the second volume of the series, but it seems unlikely, since these records do not have any indication to the SUPER LIVE CONCERT SERIES, not even a number added to the insert, and they also do not have the generic insert with the Shea Stadium photo that was used for the other titles of the series. Alternatively, it cannot be excluded that CBM made a mistake in numbering the titles and simply forgot volume 2.

COMPLETE ITALY <<>> PARIS
SUPER LIVE CONCERT SERIES 3

ITALY-PARIS
3.jpg

Matrix Number: WEC 3688-A / 4178 A 1038

COMMENTS AND RELEASES

Regardless to the title, there is no complete show here. Side A is a repressing of Side A of MORE BEATLES - LIVE PARIS OLYMPIA and Side B is a repressing of Side A of LIVE IN ITALY, which itself was a copy of the Italian Joker LP, that included tracks from the Hollywood Bowl show together with some BBC material.

The record came with an insert with title, track listing and the Godzilla logo printed on pink paper, and the disc had the red labels with big Godzilla. The generic slipsheet with the photo from the Shea Stadium was added to the back cover.

COMPLETE MELBOURNE VANCOUVER
SUPER LIVE CONCERT SERIES 4

Melbourne-Vancouver
4.jpg

Matrix Number: VN 1032 A 4164 / MB 1034 A

COMMENTS AND RELEASES

All the so-called "complete" shows in this series are actually incomplete. In this volume, Side A is a repressing of Side A of LIVE IN VANCOUVER  and Side B is a repressing of Side A of LIVE IN MELBOURNE.

The LP came with the insert with title and track listing, without the Godzilla logo, printed on bluish paper. The disc had yellow Instant Analysis label without side indications for Side A and orange Instant Analysis label with Side 2 indication for Side B. The generic slipsheet with the photo from the Shea Stadium was added to the back cover.

BACK IN 1964 AT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL
SUPER LIVE CONCERT SERIES 5

Back 1964

Matrix Number: 4178 A 1038 / VN 1032 B

COMMENTS AND RELEASES

This LP has on Side A a repressing of Side A of LIVE IN ITALY and on Side B a repressing of Side B of LIVE IN VANCOUVER. The producer probably thought of releasing the entire Hollywood Bowl show, which was missing from the CBM catalog: the insert cover in fact reports “VNb / ITb’’, which would effectively correspond to the complete Hollywood Bowl concert. However, he failed by repressing Side A of ITALY instead...

This record was released with an insert derived from the original BACK IN 1964 AT THE HOLLYWOOD BOWL by Lemon Record, with the addition of LIVE 5 on top. The disc had the light blue Shalom labels and the back cover had the Shea Stadium photo.

COMPLETE FOREST HILLS ·· LONDON
SUPER LIVE CONCERT SERIES 6

Forest Hills-London
6.jpg

Matrix Number: FH 1058 4228 A / WEC 3687-A

COMMENTS AND RELEASES

This LP has on Side A a repressing of Side A of FOREST HILLS TENNIS STADIUM and on Side B a repressing of Side A of SUNDAY NIGHT AT THE LONDON PALLADIUM. Side A of course has nothing to see with a supposed Forest Hills show - but it's not even sure that CBM was aware of his erroneous indication, since he used tapes that were traded at the time without questioning about the true content.

The record had the insert with the Godzilla logo and the track listing printed on light yellow paper. The disc had the red labels with big Goodzilla and it had the usual photo of the Shea Stadium on the back.

COMMENT AND RELEASES

This is technically a pirate recording, that was quickly released after these tracks appeared in Europe in April 1977. The official US version in fact has a slightly different track listing and was distributed in July 1977. STARS OF '63 was apparently produced some months after the other records, and was thus a late addition to the SUPER LIVE CONCERT SERIES.

There are two different versions of this 2-LP set, with slight differences in the insert cover. One of them has the Godzilla logo and the indication SUPER LIVE CONCERT SERIES, and was printed on yellow paper; the other one has the indication GAMMA ALPHA RECORDS in the lower part, lacks the Godzilla logo and was printed on white paper. The back cover has the Shea Stadium photo in slightly reduced size. Both discs have the red labels with big Godzilla, with sides A/B indication. Both versions of this 2-LP set are scarce in the market, the GAMMA ALPHA RECORDS one seems to be slightly easier to find.

INTEREST. These bootlegs have exclusive interest for collectors. The entire series is quite rare, or at least rather uncommon.  */**.
