COMMENTS

A 10’’ disc, featuring the recording session for the third BBC From Us to You programme, aired on August 3rd, 1964. The highlights are the backing tracks of I’m Happy Just to Dance With You and I Should Have Known Better (both unbroadcast, as was track 1). Listening to a recording session of the BBC programme was quite exciting back in 1978, and this release aroused great interest.

RELEASES

The first pressings (photo below the title) were made on colored vinyl with white Ruthless Rhymes labels; quite soon the records had yellow Ruthless Rhymes labels. The discs were on red, blue, yellow or green vinyl, or splattered red vinyl, and it is not know in which sequence they were released. A few sets of stampers were made; their jacket reports the following numers of copies pressed: 7.21.1978: 600 copies; 9.8.1978 (not shown here): 450 copies; 4.19.1979: 748 copies. The copies released in 1979, always with the same cover, were probably those on colored vinyl, usually blue, but green and red were seen, without any label. These were probably not made by the original producer, but by someone who had access to the pressing plant and made a large number of copies from the stampers that were kept there.

1981. An uncommon repressing had the Hohrweite Stereophonie label.

1986. Three hundred copies were pressed on April 8 for inclusion in FROM THE VAULT box. These had the original sleeve, and silver or light blue TMOQ labels.

INTEREST. One of the classics. Essential for all collectors at the time of its appearance, it still retains a good collector's value today, especially the splatter red vinyl copies. Thanks to the high number of copies, it is not particularly rare ***/**

THE COUNTERFEIT

FROM US TO YOU was almost immediately counterfeited by another bootlegger, on matrix UTU 10 A / UTU 10 B. This version has an identical cover, but the discs omit part of the chat in-between songs. The discs were usually on colored vinyl, blue, green or red, some copies were on black vinyl with blue waves on the outer parts, only visible in transparency, and had blank labels, usually with a small "Made in U.S.A." indication. Some copies had an additional rubber stamp on one of the sides with "Collector" and the title.

INTEREST. Also this is a collector's item, particularly the copies with the rubber stamp on the label, provided  collectors are aware that it is a counterfeit. **
